Ingredients

- Unsalted Butter (6 tbsp, softened) – For that tender, buttery texture.
- Egg Wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp milk) – Gives a golden, shiny crust.
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and softened butter. Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Braided Loaf
Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Roll each into a long rope and braid them together. Tuck the ends under.
5. Second Rise
Place the braided dough on a baking sheet, cover, and let it rise for another 45 minutes.
6. Apply Egg Wash
Brush the dough with an egg wash for a golden shine.
7. Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
8. Cool and Enjoy
Let the bread cool before slicing. Serve with butter, jam, or honey!
