Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
- 1 can crescent roll dough (or small tortilla rounds for a crispy version)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Taco Meat
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Drain excess grease and stir in taco seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Step 2: Mix in Cheese & Ranch
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef with cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning. Mix until well combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Bites
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out crescent dough and cut into small squares (about 2×2 inches).
- Spoon a small amount of the beef mixture into the center of each dough square.
- Fold the edges over and pinch to seal, forming a small pouch.
Step 4: Bake Until Golden
- Place the bites seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy
- Let them cool slightly and sprinkle with chopped cilantro (optional).
- Serve warm with ranch dressing, salsa, or guacamole for dipping.
Notes
Don’t Overfill – Too much filling can cause the bites to burst open while baking.
Use Puff Pastry – For a flakier texture, swap crescent roll dough with puff pastry.
Make Them Spicy – Add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the filling.
Make-Ahead Option – Assemble the bites, refrigerate, and bake when ready.
