Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (9-12 oz) fresh or frozen cheese ravioli (or any filling)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Oil, for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
  • Fresh parsley and extra Parmesan for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Coating

  1. In one bowl, pour buttermilk (or milk).
  2. In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes.

Step 2: Coat the Ravioli

  1. Dip each ravioli into the buttermilk, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  2. Dredge in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Place on a plate while you finish coating the rest.

Step 3: Fry the Ravioli

  1. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry ravioli in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove with tongs and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan.
  2. Serve hot with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use Fresh or Frozen Ravioli – If using frozen, thaw slightly before coating.
  • Double-Coat for Extra Crispiness – Dip the ravioli in the buttermilk and breadcrumbs twice for a thicker crust.

  • Don’t Overcrowd the Fryer – Fry in batches to keep them crispy.
