Ingredients
Filling:
-
8 oz cream cheese, softened
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
½ tsp onion powder
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
1–2 tbsp green onions or chives (optional)
To Assemble:
-
20–24 wonton wrappers
-
1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
-
Oil for frying OR oil spray for air frying
To Serve:
-
Sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or spicy mayo
Instructions
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and optional green onions. Mix until smooth.
Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add 1 tsp of filling in the center. Lightly brush edges with egg wash, then fold into triangles or pinch into classic wonton shapes. Press edges firmly to seal.
To Fry: Heat oil in a skillet (about 1–2 inches deep) to 350°F. Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
To Air Fry: Lightly spray wontons with oil and cook at 375°F for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway, until crisp and golden.
Transfer to paper towels or a wire rack to drain. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Seal Them Well – Press edges tight so they don’t burst open while frying.
Avoid Overfilling – A little filling goes a long way.
Don’t Crowd the Pan – Fry in batches so they stay crispy.
Keep Wrappers Covered – Prevent drying out by covering unused wrappers with a damp towel.
